This is probably one of the most if not THE most up - to - date creative writing books on the market right now. It is part of the popular need - 2 - know essential guide series, which covers a wide range of subjects. I found the book lived up to everything it states on the cover, despite the fact that there are just over 100 pages it is packed with information. I thought the layout to be very interesting and good for getting you engaged. It consisted of twelve chapters each with a clear heading, that let you know what would be involved, the format of each chapter was a combination of explanations - examples - and instructions, covering every genre imaginable.
I found the little hints/reminders on the margins very helpful as they remind you of the main points in each of the chapters, also the exercises were nice and simple yet very well thought out and effective. I can say that I am still enjoying this book and its one you will want to leave out in reach, you can pick up and find what you want easily. It also covered the different ways to both publish your work and how to generate interest, with good honest advice on all the latest sources like facebook, twitter, blogging etc. I also loved the way the author used humor to get some points across, and found myself laughing loudly in parts which was a big bonus, because if you enjoy doing something, you tend to make a greater effort. I also found for some reason early on into the book ideas just started to pop into my head and my note book was filing up by the end of it !
All in all a great book
