The launch of the Need2Know E-Book

When you say the word ‘e-book’ to an editor, there is always a slight reluctance to embrace the idea. Is it a lazy way to read a book, or is it pure genius?

Digital text, e-text, eBook, ebook, electronic book; whatever you want to call this ‘electronic form’, there’s no moving away from the fact that it’s transforming the publishing industry, and quickly.

And, rather interestingly, if you read up on its history, you’ll find some fascinating facts. Did you know it began as an underground market?

Despite the e-book’s controversial nature, here at Need2Know we recognise the importance of its development, and we’re embracing it. While our printed books will always remain the most popular form, we know that our essential guides are read and used by professionals across the UK. So, whether you want to read from beginning to end or use as a handy reference point, having a Need2Know e-book on your laptop is convenient and practical. You don’t have to lug several books around - at the click of a button you can have your Need2Know guide open and ready to refer to. And, the best bit of all, these guides are searchable, so you can just type in the word or phrase you’ re looking for, and the relevant chapter or section will pop up.

At Need2Know we’re also rather excited as it means we can offer ‘large print’ formats on request - enabling us to make our books available to everyone. The e-books can also be used with accessibility programs for the visually impaired. Very shortly, we will also be offering colour e-books, giving customers even more choice.

And, in this environmentally friendly age, what better way to read a book?

Currently we only offer the e-book format for a selection of our titles, although new e-books are being added to all the time. Visit the e-book shop for more information.
